Frontier Magazine publishes weekly appreciations from the forefronts of architecture, technology, culture, and education. We share new ideas about how design and creativity accelerate positive change.
I’m Brian Sholis, a writer and editor with a background in contemporary art and photography. I write each week with the support of Tristan Marantos, Paul Twa, and Paddy Harrington. This magazine is published by Frontier, a design office in Toronto, where I serve as Editorial Director.
Frontier Magazine is free for all and is supported by readers. We believe in an idea writer Tim Carmody articulated a few years ago as “unlocking the commons”: “the most economically powerful thing you can do is to buy something for your own enjoyment that also improves the world.” We hope that people who appreciate our efforts and have the means to support us will do so, knowing that this enables us to share our work with everyone.
